Two gigs in one week!

That's right - we'll be playing twice in one week.

The first gig will be on Thursday 8th of February, at the Wanch in Wanchai. This is a great chance to hear us in full rock-out mode, and we'll be playing for an hour so we'll get to play all of our original material. Yay!

The address of the Wanch is 54 Jaffe Road, Wanchai. Ph: 2861 1621. Not sure what time we're on yet but I'm sure if you get there around 9pm you'll be there in plenty of time to catch the show. Entry is free.

Our second gig for the week is on Friday 9th of February at Joyce is Not Here. Come on down to Joyce's, have a drink and enjoy listening to us in our more stripped back mode. Once again entry is free.

One final note - make sure you have a look at the South China Morning Post this Sunday - I believe Mr Robert Prevendar will be making an appearance in the colour supplement.

Post Underground Review - We Rocked

Words can't really describe the feeling of playing a good gig. But I'll try.

Last night we played Underground 36, Hong Kong's fortnightly original music night. There were five bands, we played fourth, and it all happened at the Edge nightclub in Lan Kwai Fong. The good thing about playing there is they have a decent PA which meant we could hear ourselves properly, we could be loud without being ear-splitting, and the audience could hear us properly as well. It was incredible - suddenly our sound was transformed from a vile, spitting, feral beast into a huge powerful monster. It was great!

We were all a bit nervous before the show, but as soon as we got up on stage and started setting up our instruments we all relaxed and then performed our best show yet.

For those who are interested, the setlist was as follows:

Musashi
Whichever Way the Wind Blows
In the Desert
Wash It Out of Sight
I'm Sorry
Punks in Yau Ma Tei
Taxi to Wanchai
Sugar Baby
Bulletproof Black Sedan

Afterwards in the post-performance euphoria I managed to chat to a few people who were very encouraging, and Rob actually sold(!) two copies of our demo CD.

Anyway, that will do for now - we're playing again next Friday, back at Joyce Is Not Here, where we're going to debut a few new songs, as well as play everything else we know. Stay tuned! And thanks to everyone who came along last night to see us - we really appreciate it.

Underground 36

Finally we get the chance to play at the Underground! The Underground is a fortnightly music showcase for original music played by Hong Kong bands. We've wanted to play at the Underground for quite a while, but circumstances conspired against us.

But now we are, so jot this down in your diary:

Friday January 12th
EDGE Nightclub
G/F, 60 Wyndham Street
8.30pm-12am
$40 entry

Finally - an update!

OK, a couple of things. First of all - in sort-of Bone Table news - Robert is doing a special gig at Joyce Is Not Here on the 22nd of December. He'll be playing a set of Bob Dylan songs - and not the usual songs either ("Lay Lady Lay!!!"). I (Adrian) will helping out a little on guitar, and Maggie's husband Tunji will be doing some percussion as well. I think it will be a nice gig - so come on down to Joyce Is Not here (Peel St, SoHo) on the 22nd at about 9pm. And the other bit of news? Well, we have a band photo now.

Live at Joyce Is Not Here - this Friday night, Nov. 17th

Yes that's right - the first of our six residency gigs. Get down to Joyce Is Not Here - Artists' Bar and Cafe, 38 Peel Street, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong. We'll start around 9.30pm. It's a small venue so make sure you get there in time to get a seat. In fact if you position yourself right you'll almost be sitting in the band. This Friday, November 17th - hope you can come!

Bubbling away

Well, it might seem like we're not up to much, but actually we've organised to do six gigs at Joyce Is Not Here.

The dates are as follows:
November 17th
January 19th
February 16th
March 16th
April 20th
May 18th

This is pretty big for us - basically someone (Joyce and her husband Rob) is prepared to take a bet on us and let us entertain their patrons not once, not twice, but six times. So put those dates in your diary and come down and see us!

Oh yes, and we've been working on some new songs as well.

Live at Joyce Is Not Here - October 13th

We'll be playing at Joyce Is Not Here on Friday 13th of October. Joyce Is Not Here is a small bar in Peel Street in Mid-Levels. We'll be playing a slightly more subdued set as there are some noise restrictions in the area. Nevertheless we expect the intimate setting will lend the songs a certain intensity that tends to get lost when we crank our amps up to 10.

So mark that date down in your diary, and we'll keep you posted with any more details.

Rockit Rockit

Yeah! Bone Table! We're back and we're playing this Saturday night. The gig will be our Rockit Festival audition, but also, a gig's a gig.

We've had a couple of rehearsals since Maggie got back and I think it's safe to say we sound a little bit tighter and a little bit tougher. Saturday night also sees the debut of the Bone Table Outfit. Be sure you don't miss us in all our sartorial splendour!

Details:
Amnesia
9pm - free entry
3/F Al Aqmar House
30 Hollywood Road

And here's a special treat:
Son House singing "John the Revelator".

Gigs - yes, that's a plural

Hullo Bone Table fans - some news! First of all, Maggie will be back in Hong Kong very soon, which means we'll be rehearsing for our Rockit Audition, which is of course at Amnesia on Saturday 23rd of September. BE THERE!! Actually, Rob and I went there last week to have a look at the 'scene'. It was pretty good - we saw a great punk band called Attention to Piss, and some other good bands whose names escape me (Attention to Piss used up all my band-name memory). Apparently 84 bands are competing for about 10 places - but fingers crossed.

In other news, we'll also be playing soon at a great bar in SoHO called Joyce Is Not Here - they've been putting on bands for a few weeks now on Friday nights, and apparently it's been a lot of fun. It's a smallish bar though, so we'll be little more 'intimate'. The gig is tentatively scheduled for October 6th - stay tuned for more details.

Next Gig Update

OK, so we're supposed to be playing on August 4th as an audition for the Rockit HK Festival. However due to some administrative issues, we'll now be playing on the 23rd of September. Stay tuned for more details.

The Fun Never Stops

We will of course be playing at the Wanch tomorrow night (58 Jaffe Road, Wanchai - band starts about 10pm - BE THERE), but I'm glad to say that we'll also be playing a gig on August 4th. This gig will be our audition for inclusion in the Rockit Hong Kong Music Festival. The gig will be at a club called Amnesia. I'm not entirely sure where that is, but as soon as I find out I'll put up the details here. Check back soon for more updates, including details of how to get a copy of our demo CD.

Live At The Wanch

Tell your brothers, tell your sistas; tell your maw and tell your paw... The Bone Table is in town...

Yes folks, Bone Table will be playing live at The Wanch on July 21st, Friday.

What kind of music do we play? You may ask. Bone Table plays what some people may call Hard Rockin' Mid-Levels Hillbilly Sound; the sound is Gutbucket Rock, with a Chicago twist!

Come check us out. Come have a drink with us. Come make fun of us. Come jam with us. Whatever you want to do, just come on out! Don't miss the debut gig of Bone Table at The Wanch.
