Crocodile!
I had no idea how far away
Cape Tribulation is. It's right up the top end of Queensland. I had vague ideas that I could take photos with my phone and email them to
Flickr so they'd show up here while I was away. But 15 minutes north of Cairns there was no mobile coverage at all. No wonder Queenslanders are always freaking out about Telstra.
DaintreeThe Daintree Rainforest is incredible. Everywhere you look plants of all sizes are scrambling over each other to get some sunlight.

The photo above shows where the rainforest meets the intertidal zone - at that point the tide was in, and small fish were swimming around the trees, including a lot of
Archer Fish.
The CapeThe Cape is a beautiful place - a nice curved beach, the headland, mangroves, and massive fig trees. I don't think Captain Cook would have named it Cape Tribulation if he could have seen the actual beach.

CrocodilesEstuarine crocodiles were nearly hunted to extinction in the 1970's, but are coming back with a vengeance. In the 26km Thornton Creek estuary there is thought to be 1 croc per kilometre, so 26 crocs. Here's one of 'em:

The more I found out about crocs the more they scared the crap out of me.
